‘The Chosen’ Announces Season 3 Will Be A Musical

Written by on April 1, 2022

Fans of the popular episodic series, The Chosen, which follows Jesus’ early ministry with His disciples, were clamoring for more information yesterday when the official social media account posted a simple quote from Scripture: “Behold, I’m doing a new thing.” As anticipation grows for the series’ third season, which has remained shrouded in mystery, it was apparent the producers were getting ready for a big announcement.

The Chosen has skyrocketed in popularity among Bible believers who enjoy not only reading between the lines but seeing them acted out as well. And now, it appears those lines will be sung, with the announcement that Season 3 will be one continuous musical!

“We’ve always embraced the power of music and creative storytelling,” shared creator, Dallas Jenkins today. “I’m so excited to take fans on a new journey through Scripture with the power of song and dance.”

The Chosen creators have been taking more creative liberties with their storytelling this past year. In Season 2, a full episode was filmed using a single camera shot of a 45-minute conversation around a campfire. And while the Christmas special performed incredibly well at the box office, fans of the series had to sit through 90-minutes of unrelated artists performing their hit songs on the empty set, leaving many to wonder if an actual Christian episode even existed.

While no plot details have been released about the upcoming season, early script leaks, combined with the actual source material (hint: the Bible) are giving us some understanding as to what musical numbers may await.

“The Healing of the Lepors” will see the large crowd celebrate miracles in song and dance with a “cast of hundreds,” while “Calm The Storm” will involve one of the largest set pieces ever built for the series involving a dramatic expansion of the “storm of the century.”

The third season of The Chosen will debut this fall. Jazz hands up!
