Don Ready, a.k.a Mr. Young Greatness, gives us a vivid metaphor of God keeping us afloat in a sea of doubt, failure, and uncertainty.
Whether it’s a life jacket or a pool ring, they both serve the same purpose; keeping a body above the water’s surface so it doesn’t go under. In the same way, Don Ready gives us a great interpretation of God keeping our heads above water and the Holy Spirit allowing us to stay there; not afflicted by the ripples and waves the enemy throws at us but being able to withstand and roll over them.
Throughout scripture, we see God constantly reminding us that he is always with us, always in us, and always picking us up. Isaiah 41:10 says, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
God does not promise a life free of hardship. Jesus tells us that we will face trials and tough times (John 16:33). What God does promise however is his constant assurance and steadfast peace that can only be found through him alone.
“But you, O Lord, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.” -Psalm 3:3
